Bucket Elevators Problem

For no immediately seen reasons Bucket Elevators chain lives were poor.

Author RCA

After few thinking days the author concluded, since all else are OK excessive chain overload could be a cause. Buckets running ¾ full against the thumb rule of max ½ full supported this surmise.

The author got 30 mts of elevator delivery collected and weighed. Indeed, the conveying rate was 2½ times design rate

Author found solution

Since all else are OK excessive chain overload could be a cause. Buckets running ¾ full against the thumb rule of max ½ full supported this surmise.

The author got 30 mts of elevator delivery collected and weighed. Indeed, the conveying rate was 2½ times design rate

RCA solution Benefits

Proper process adjustments reduced the fill to 40% and thus the conveying rate was 80% of design production loss. Chain lives exceeded four years.
