11 KV Bus A to Bus B Phase Check Problem

After electricity board line maintenance, 11 KV bus-A to B-bus essential phase sequence check assures short circuit danger-free buses paralleling.

Crew wary of doing this very high voltage check, even when given certified gloves, and test probes skipped it relying on electricity board assurance.

Author Solution

The author advised:

  1. Leave the 11 KV A to B bus connecting bus‑tie
  2. Check the phase sequence at any 400 V load center Bus A to Bus B. This is adequate, since all internal connections remain the same.

Benefits of this Method

  1. Crew cheerfully and unhesitatingly performed the essential safety assurance test free from fears of working with live 11 KV conductors.
  2. Potential dangers of opening live 11 KV system panels and handheld probes touching live 11 KV buses are absent
  3. Crew perform an essential safety step cheerfully
