Note: This root cause analysis (RCA) is from real-time scenarios that happened in industries during the tenure of two or three decades ago. These articles will help you to improve your troubleshooting skills and knowledge.

Screen Vibrators

The product screens came with linear motion vibrators actuated by an I-shaped core attracted and released by E-shaped fixed laminated block, powered by electrical pulses provided by a solidstate electronic circuit. Such vibrators required very precise adjustments and locking.

At such vibration frequencies, the adjustments worked loose and necessitated frequent adjustments, which is extremely difficult in the high ambient temperature and pungent ammonia odorous screen room.

As a result screen availabilities were poor affecting production significantly.

Authors Solution

The author replaced the entire E/I core vibrators with motorized vibrators.

The rotor shaft carries adjustable eccentric weights because of which rotor rotation vibrates. Suitable links and spring transmit the motor vibration to the screen.

Supplied Screen Vibrators Perennial Problems

Thanks to the high reliability of the motorized vibrators production limitations vanished and plant produced at far higher than rated capacities.
