Rockwell PLCs for Large Scale Applications

In the first part, we overviewed the PLCs used for smaller and medium applications. The second part overviews the PLCs used for higher-level applications.

ControlLogix 5580 Controllers

This PLC is one of the fastest range of devices in the Rockwell family. It is highly optimized and provides very good productivity. It is a good PLC for motion applications, as it manages integrated motion over Ethernet/IP for high-speed applications.

ControlLogix 5580 Controllers

It’s Guard Logix 5580 range has SIL2 and SIL3 layers of safety solutions in it. It has an onboard display and a 2GB SD card slot facility.

One of the standby features of this PLC is its exceptional level of tolerance toward high temperatures and its convection-cooled design.

The software used for programming is Studio 5000.

Control Logix 5570

This PLC is one of the fastest range of devices in the Rockwell family. It is highly optimized and provides very good productivity. It is a good PLC for motion applications, as it manages integrated motion over Ethernet/IP for high-speed applications.

It has integrated Sercos motion. It has many communication protocols – like Ethernet/IP, Control Net, Device Net, Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, Sync Link, etc. Its Guard Logix 5580 range has SIL2 and SIL3 layers of safety solutions in it.

One of the standby features of this PLC is its exceptional level of tolerance toward high temperatures and its convection-cooled design. The software used for programming is Studio 5000.

Rockwell’s range of controllers also has a vast range of distributed IO and racks and modules for fail-safe, efficient, and hybrid types of communication and programming. It has other controllers and devices too, but we will not cover all the types in this post.\

I have attempted to cover the most and generally used types of PLCs in Rockwell.

In this way, we had an overview of the various types of Rockwell PLCs in both the posts; ranging from small-scale to large-scale applications.
