Calculate Current (4-20ma) from Process variable PV

This tool is used to calculate the current signal in the range of 4-20ma using process variable (PV), Upper Range Value (URV) & Lower Range Value (LRV).

This calculation tool is used to find out the equivalent current signal 4-20 ma using PV, URV & LRV.

Calculate current from Process variable:

Where,

PV = Process Variable

URV = Upper Range Value (Transmitter Max scale value)

LRV = Lower Range Value (Transmitter Min scale value)

Note:

For calculating the equivalent current 4-20ma, we have to enter PV, URV & LRV details.

The above calculation tool designed for a standard 4-20 ma signal conversion.

You can convert out of range signal also with the above tool.

(Example: URV = 100, LRV = 0 and PV = 110)

  • Looks like Now it is in hands and can calculate 4-20 ma signal easily in seconds.
Superb Tool for easy calculation. I Loved your blog and nice creativity.

  • Hi,
I am Pavan working as assistant engineer, instrumentation. I used your instrumentation tools for calculations. Can you please share the formula for the Calculate current from Process variable conversion tool. Thanks

  • Hello sir thank you very much... I want to know (i mean formula) how to calculate process variable to MA.
Example 1) range LRV is -17℃ URV is 3.3℃
If PV is -11.7℃ how much ma.
Example 2) range LRV is -185mbar URV is -80mbar
If PV is -72mbar how much ma.
Example 3) range LRV is 0 barg URV is 34.4barg
If PV is 19barg how much ma. In this deferent type of range. How can i calculation ma from PV. Sir can you pls explain the formula.I hope you can give the answer. Thanks you sir
    Tinumathew

    • Hello, You can enter PV, LRV, URV values in the above application and click outside once then it will automatically calculate mA value. For Formula Please check "Formulas"category or Click Here. Regards
