The list of certifications available for Computer Science and Technology majors is listed in this article.
There are many other certifications available in various specialized areas within Computer Science and Technology. The availability of certifications may vary based on geographic location and industry demand.
When I was in college, students who majored in Software Engineering were organized to apply for CCF certification. CCF certification is basically for computer majors and is organized by the Chinese Computer Federation. More detailed information can be found on the CCF website.
The exam cost more than 17 US dollars. In those years, few of our students in the Department of Computer Science and Technology took the CCF exam, but it was not bad to get this certificate since at least there was something to write on the resume. (It is said that it is not difficult to pass CCF certification if you have solid professional knowledge.)
PAT is run by Zhejiang University in China. This test is a little more expensive than CCF, and it is more difficult because it involves algorithm design. I have taken the exam.
Though PAT is more difficult, it is of higher value. It is held three times every year in spring, autumn and winter, and is a computer test. You can practice algorithm questions on the OJ platform on the PAT official website, which is very good for training algorithm thinking.
ACM players are commonly known as ACMers. Many colleges and universities will organize students to participate in ICPC.
When I was in college, a talent of algorithm in our department won a national bronze medal, and he remained known many years after graduation. ACM algorithm questions are also difficult, but the ICPC is well recognized. An ACM award is valuable.
You may have heard NCRE before. It is commonly known as Level 2 computer test. Of course, there are also Level 3 and Level 4.
NCRE is not only about office, but also about database, C++and so on. It’s easy for students who major in Computer Science and Technology to pass NCRE. It is not necessary to take NCRE. But you can still take it.
There is no need to say much about these two tests. People especially computer majors should understand the importance of them. You had better to pass CET-6.
Next, I will introduce some more advanced and difficult tests, some of which may only be taken by postgraduate students and on-the-job individuals.
It is not difficult to get the title of junior engineer. My college classmates passed the junior engineer exam in their senior year.
The intermediate and senior exams are naturally more difficult, and you may not be able to get the two titles after passing the exams, because these two titles require certain work experience. You can directly take the senior exam directly without taking the former two levels of exams.
These are super difficult certifications and you just need to know them. There is no need to doubt the value of such certifications.
In fact, in addition to applying for certifications, you can participate in various competitions. There are many competitions that computer majors can take part in. Remember that enjoying the process is what really matters. It is believed that you can gain valuable experiences and knowledge in the process of taking competitions.
